Suffolk University Inauguration Weekend

A Celebration of Community, Opportunity, and the Transformative Power of a Suffolk Education

Inauguration attendees included civic leaders such as United States Senator Ed Markey, Boston Mayor Martin Walsh, and Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo, all of whom spoke admiringly of Suffolk’s singular place in the city. “Suffolk is a Boston institution that holds up some of our greatest values,” Mayor Walsh observed. “It calls on students to think of themselves as citizens, active members of our society, people who share our future.” President Kelly echoed this in her speech. “There is a power here,” she declared. “It is in the magnitude of the impact that we have. We are about transforming lives. We are about building bridges to opportunity. As we were at our founding 112 years ago, we remain inclusive of those who have been traditionally excluded, and we strive to be ever more so.”

There were special moments throughout the weekend. And there was a deep, shared sense that Suffolk University has never been stronger or our future brighter.
